It’s mid-September, and we all know what that means, a new iOS update has been released! Following the highest number of betas ever in an Apple software update, iOS 11 and the team here at Red Shark Digital has been exploring the update since it’s release and have put together a little recap of our top 5 features, as well as a more in-depth look at iOS 11 in our special edition of our Friday Frenzy!

Without further ado, let’s get this thing started!

The New Control Center

iOS 11 Red Shark Digital

One of the biggest overhauls in the latest iOS update comes to the control center. The new control center now features a full page design and allows you to change what does and does not appear in your control center! This is awesome for those of you who may get more use f having your alarm in the control center instead of the stopwatch or maybe you are a power user and need the ability to enable low power mode straight from the control center. Well, fear no more because now you can access all of the essentials with just a swipe up.

Apple has confirmed that third-party applications to have the ability to add things to the control center. We can’t wait to see what this could entail. Some of our team is hoping that Tile will incorporate a button that one can tap to ping your keys automatically. Talk about convenience!

Apple Maps Gets Some Much Needed Features

Have you ever been driving in an unknown area wondering what in the world the speed limit may be? How about which lane you should be in to make sure that you never miss your exit. Or what about being lost in the airport searching for the nearest Starbucks but being unable to find a nearby airport map.

Well, put those worries behind you because Apple has updated its Maps application so that we can have all of the information we need to solve any inconveniences that we may incur in our daily lives.

Siri Gets an Update

Another excellent update with iOS11 is the new Siri! As the usage of voice search is rapidly improving, Apple has seen this and has made an effort to make Siri smarter. One key thing that you will notice is that Siri sounds a lot more natural than she used to. Now when you are talking to Siri, she sounds like she could be a real person.

Another thing that has improved is that Siri is now just overall smarter. Siri now can predict what you are looking to do even better, as well as do things in third-party apps that she was not able to do before. Siri is going to improve your ability to complete any task you may need to on your device.
iMessage Changes

Now there aren’t too many iMessage changes. However, the changes are noticeable when using the app. With iOS 11 you now get new screen effects when sending iMessages, as well as a new visible dock that allows you to use you iMessage apps with no problem!

Another cool thing if you’re struggling with the large size screen on a plus model, you can now enable a one hand mode that makes the keyboard easier to use.

Do Not Disturb While Driving & Screen Recording

One of the new safety features in iOS 11 is Do Not Disturb While Driving. This feature disables all notifications and makes it to where you will be able to focus on the road with little to no distractions.

Another update closing off our top 5 is the ability to screen record straight from the device! Before, to record your screen, you had to plug your phone into your computer and record via Quicktime. With iOS 11 you can record your screen right from the control center.

Well there you have it, iOS 11 in a nutshell. Have you had a chance to try out the latest update yet? What are some of your favorite features? Let us know and be sure to check out our more in-depth look at iOS 11 here.
