We Will Rock You

Red Shark Digital

I’m going to be real with you guys, Spencer told me that I had to write this blog so here I am. Writing isn’t my strong point, but I can give it a shot.

To start this off you should know that I listen to all kinds of music. Rock, rap, country, pop, literally any and everything. Pulling just 20 songs from the almost 3,000 songs on my Spotify is impossible for me. So, that being said, I decided that every week I will pull my 20 songs from a different genre of music. This week I started with my favorite music, rock. For the most part, my rock music is from late 90’s to early 2000’s. Other than that, it’s really all over the place.

From Red Hot Chili Peppers to Led Zepplin to Blink 182, I’ve got you covered. I’m not one of those people who are crazy about one band or one type of rock music. To be honest I’m just into anything that has a good tune to it and a meaning behind it. The only rock I don’t care for is new rock. I like staying in the era of My Chemical Romance, Foo Fighters, and Sublime.

Some people would probably think that banging drums, electric guitars and screaming punks making music would make concentrating at work a little hard. Well, that’s not the case for me at all. For me, it drowns out everything around me and actually helps me focus more. Everyone in this office loves music. If we don’t have The Office on TV, you can find all of huddled up at our desks with our headphones in. Usually with the music up so loud that you can hear our headphones from 5 feet away. The thing is, we all listen to different types of music. We started the playlist this week, and I haven’t seen one person with headphones in. Instead, it’s singing along to the music that Hilary picked or Mike picked and waiting for the next song to come so we can guess who added that one. I feel like it also gives us a sense of respect for each other. Even though I may not like Stir Fry by Migos, Spencer and Chris love it (It’s on both of their playlists *insert eye roll emoji*) so who am I to tell them that the song sucks and we should listen to something else? They might not like listening to The White Stripes or Five Finger Death Punch, but that’s not going to make me change the song.

If you want to get to know us, give the playlist a listen. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how cool (most) of us are. If you get to a song and you’re like “Who in the heck would listen to this??”, just know, it wasn’t me. I’m one of the cool ones.
