The Future is Now: 2018 Graphic Design Trends

Red Shark Digital

In the era of digital art, graphic design trends can go as quickly as they came. What we thought was in style this past year may look entirely outdated in 2018. While some trends have been around for years, others have been kicked to the side to make room for newer, more modern looks. So, if you are looking for anything but boring, this is it– graphic design trends 2018. 2018 will be the year of crazy designs, experiments, and wild imagination. While you may find some of these a huge surprise, you might have seen others coming. Let’s not waste any more time. This is the reveal of the trends that will blow 2018 out of the water.

Glitch Effect

Some may call this the corrupted image effect, but we call it the Glitch Effect. This trend has been around for some time now, but lately, it’s become one of the most popular trends. Most people used to see this effect as annoying, but recently it’s what people are asking for.

The Ruined Effect

Being a Graphic Designer myself, this trend excites me. All designers get tired of the nice and neat look and we all get the urge to destroy things in an artistic way. Everything that includes splashing, scratching, ripping off, breaking or any other form of completely ruining a piece will be considered in style for 2018.

The Color Channels Effect

Playing with color channels has always been something that designers have played with, but never became a real trend. Color channels allow us designers to play with really fun effects. A holograph, hallucination, or distorted reality… all of these are highly influential on the viewer which makes “Color channels” one of the top graphic design trends 2018.

Double Exposure

Double Exposure is nothing new to most viewers and designers, but it is definitely on the rise. Even though this trend has been around for some time, the depth that designers are going into this effect is bringing it quickly to the top of the design trends for this year.

Creative Typography

Creative typography has been on the rise for some time now, and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. When working with creative typography, the more imagination you have the better. Creative typography can be combined can be used with almost every design technique you can think of, or by itself, and still stand out.
