All Good Things Must Come to An End

Red Shark Digital

It’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. It’s hard to believe that my internship at Red Shark Digital is coming to an end. The 12 weeks I have spent here this summer have taught me more than I could have hoped for. When I first started here back in May, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was worried that I would be completely lost and in over my head; however, the entire team was very welcoming and eager to answer any questions I had.

During my time I learned about social media, SEO, how to manage a website, and so much more. In addition to learning technical skills, I was able to experience an office setting and what goes on behind the scenes. As I reflect back on this internship I am proud of the work I have done and grateful for the opportunities and knowledge I have gained.

Digital Marketing Experience

Moving from a classroom to an office was a rather intimidating step. Topics such as SEO and conversions had been discussed in many of my marketing courses, but getting to see first hand how they impact a business was extremely valuable. The amount of work that goes into creating and maintaining a website, building a social media calendar, and keeping up with blogs is truly incredible. The employees here go above and beyond for their clients and it is yet another reason why I loved being a part of this team.

As an intern, I was able to work on various tasks rather than sticking to one specific area, which was beneficial because I was able to learn so much more. One of my favorite tasks was creating social media calendars because I was able to see my work posted throughout various social media platforms. Heading into the internship I was unsure of how successful I would be at writing blogs and finding topics for so many different companies. Writing these blogs pushed me to think outside the box and I believe that I am a better writer from it. I am confident that the skills and relationships I have gained here will help me throughout the rest of my career.

Life at Red Shark

If you are looking for an internship you should definitely consider Red Shark Digital. The environment is fun and laid back, but everyone is hard-working and dedicated to their job. I am really going to miss the people here, the team lunches, and the mid-afternoon YouTube/cookie breaks. Every member of the team taught me something that I will carry with me in my future positions. The moral of the story is that if you want a creative, valuable, and fun internship...choose Red Shark Digital, you won’t regret it!

My final advice for any future interns would be to get to know those you work with, be open to new tasks and knowledge, check Monday, and keep an eye out for the parking man. I am truly sad to leave this wonderful company but grateful for all that I have learned and the new friends I have gained.
