While a significant sporting event, the Super Bowl also unveils the new commercials for the year, and everyone has a favorite, with the team at Red Shark Digital being no different. I had the fun job of polling our team on their favorite commercials, and the responses flooded in, including some I had missed during the big broadcast.
The head guy himself, our CEO Spencer, loved the Bud Light commercial. While no official reason was given for his choice, one can only assume it’s because it fits his party style of lawn mower/smoker inventions, leaf blower can launchers, and an extended cooler train. Granted, that mixture does sound like an awesome party.
One of our hardworking digital strategists, Hannah, picked the Nike commercial. “I loved the Nike commercial because of who they chose to be in it. They picked women who are dominating in women's sports but have also faced backlash because of something they have done/something that has happened to them!” I can agree it was pretty powerful and moving and had me looking into their stories while feeling like I could take on the world.
Our always fantastic SEO manager, Erin, chose the Totino’s Pizza Rolls commercial Chazmo Goes Home. Her reasoning? “I just love Tim Robinson. I couldn’t stop laughing.” I had to agree there. My only regret was I watched it close to lunchtime and then had a craving for pizza rolls, so I guess the commercial worked.
Our ever-talented graphic designer, Alex, loved the chaos of Squarespace’s ad, summing it up with, “Throwing Macbooks like newspapers in ye olde Ireland is funny.” While one of the more random ones, I’d say it’s definitely memorable and funny. I may have even spammed my brother with the link a few times.
While our sales director, Matt, may not be a fairytale character, he’s definitely a master at multitasking and working with customers, which fits with his choice of Ram trucks being his commercial choice. I’m a bit of a fan of the fantasy genre, so seeing this take on Goldilocks with Glen Powell having Fabio-esque hair absolutely made my day and maybe had me adding to the views count more than once.
Another incredible digital strategist, Dakota, shared the Little Caesars commercial featuring the comedic genius Eugene Levy. Dakota stated, “This one was just funny and weird and also all about Eugene Levy and his iconic eyebrows.” As a fan of Mr. Levy since Schitt’s Creek, seeing his eyebrows fly and be worshipped by caterpillars made my day.
Harrison, another one of our amazingly awesome digital strategists, chose the Mountain Dew Baja Blast commercial, saying, “It was creative and felt like an old-school Super Bowl commercial. It was also directed by Taika Waititi, so it is cool to see a blockbuster Hollywood director involved with television commercials.” I will say I don’t think seeing SEAL’s head on a seal’s body was on my 2025 bingo card but it’s one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
The ever-incredible web project manager, Emily, chose Instacart, saying, “I liked Instacart's commercial because they brought back a bunch of the iconic mascots from old commercials, including the Kool-Aid man, the Green Giant, and even the creepy Puppy Monkey Baby. It was very nostalgic to watch.” Cheers to the nostalgia on this one with plenty of other corporate mascots, such as the adorable Pillsbury dough boy and the alluring Old Spice man.
Lauren, the lovely partner account manager, found WeatherTech’s commercial especially funny. She noted she “really liked the WeatherTech commercial! It was hilarious, and I had no idea what product it was promoting until close to the end.” As another one I hadn’t caught until this poll, I loved it and hope to be as carefree as the lovely ladies in the commercial when I reach that age.
Last but not least, there’s me. I’m a horse girl at heart, so my favorite has to be the Budweiser commercial with the cute Clydesdale colt. Their commercials have been something I look forward to seeing every year, as their marketing team seems to have their formula figured out. Clydesdales + heartwarming/happy story = happy consumers, even if some of their commercials tug at the heartstrings. Looking at you 2013 and 2015.
